How's the tummy, Rachael? Hope you're feeling better :0)
February 06 at 10:59 am
lol I knew which "weigh" you meant ;-)
I could really only do my bike this week, too. TOM makes it difficult for me to do anything.
February 05 at 10:32 am
Thanks :-)

Are you feeling better?
February 03 at 06:54 pm
:-(
You seem to be going through a lot of illnesses lately.
Prayin for you, hope you feel better soon :-)

Well he's only 24... so maybe to him its old? lol
I totally understand about the hubby thing. My hubby bought workout shorts, set up the weight bench, figured out his calorie intake.... and that's all he did. I was so excited! I thought he was going to start up but alas, no. He makes excuses too and its sooo frustrating! Gahhh!! He works nights so I can't control what he eats... and weekends are extra hard for me cause he's home eating this incredibly yummy bad for you crap right in front of my face! lol
God bless him though, at least he puts up with me "Nutrition nagging" ;-)

I use to be able to lose weight pretty easily... hubby says it's because I'm older... but come on! I'm only 25! lol
Seriously though, I am really excited for this year... I can just feel its gonna be different weight wise :-)

Oh - that's so sweet, Rachael - Thank you so much!
And Thank you as well for sitting on my shoulder when I'm considering bad things :0).

Haha! I totally understand! When I see everyone losing a million pounds in a month I think of you too :-). I didn't realize you were my height, so maybe its a tall thing lol. But thanks for the encouragement and keep your perseverance! We are proof that if you stick with it, it will benefit, even if the scale hates us ;-)

Hee hee... I am a shrimpy 5'1" who also has a hubby that's over 6 feet!

Hi Rachel, Any tips on where to find running programs for triathletes on line? Hope you had a great weekend training! Catherine

I'm not a huge fan of dark chocolate. The only dark chocolate that I buy is Mounds bars. Two nights ago I had just ONE as a snack. Unfortunately, I ate 5 the night before. lol I had to crank the willpower up a bit. Is dark chocolate better for you? Then say... milk chocolate?
January 06 at 03:52 pm
No! Didn't scare me off. I just know from past experiences that if it takes me months and months to get "into" running I most likely will give it up again and again. So I might as well stick to what I know I like to do. My DVDS and stationary cycling. Maybe once I get out of these 200's I'll attempt running.
January 06 at 02:29 pm
Boy, running seems a bit too much for me, at least for now. My workout DVDS will have to do for now. Thanks for the help!

January 04 at 06:54 pm
Hey rachiey Poo hows it going?
January 04 at 02:55 pm
Hi Rachael,

I saw your post in the forums regarding a running challenge. I'm not much of a runner. Any tips on getting started? I tried back in the summer time but barely got in a 1/4 mile before I had to stop again. Some have told me to keep pushing at it and eventually I'll be able to run farther but I did that. For a few months and no improvements. It's just running, I can't be doing something wrong, can I? LOL
January 02 at 04:37 pm
Uh- scratch that. I guess I was reading your post from last week. You sure 'hop back on the bike' quickly!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! Feel better fast and hope your New Year gets off to a better start now.

Merry Christmas! -- when does Tri season start down there in the warm and balmy south for you?
December 22, 2009
:) ... I don't blame you! :)

Have a great Christmas! Are you resting up on Christmas Day?

I reckon a photo of you in your tri gear sitting on a table (legs dangling) so that it could be photoshopped onto the shoulders of a person. One each side. One i colour white and put a halo on and the other in red with devil's horns. Just a thought :)

Thank you! Less then two hours before surgery now...

Can't wait !!!

Just want to get on that run to see if the calf holds up. I'm going to take the swim and the bike easy to give myself as much chance on the run as possible.

Are you still enjoying HI training???

A week on Saturday (and it's nearly Friday here in NZ already!) ... The run is going to be a lottery cos I''m not gonna run beforehand to give the calf a rest. I'll try a bike tonight but if it plays up the calf I'll can all the training except swimming. Now that's what you call a taper!

I would agree with you about the decents. Go hard on the first 100 and then make them progressively easier till the 6th one and then go hard again and decrease the effort the same on the 2nd set.

The only one i used to follow properly (and used to really enjoy) was the 50's wehere you go easy, medium, HARD!, easy. Great fun.

Have a great swim!

Awe, that is awesome you are going to start a family! I was on prenatals from Feb this year on, David swears that's what did it... lol.
A Half Iron Man?!! Kudos to you!! I can't wait to see the results of that one. I wish you all the luck (not that you need any, you are so great!)
It was so good to hear from you, thank you for thinking of me :)

Thanks for caring ;-) Yes I've battled lots of a headaches this year and I used to swear by Exedrin Migraine! But lately nothing puts a dent in the pain when I've got a headache, I'm seeing a doctor next month. I've been able to get back into exercising this week so keep cheering me on and I'll do the same.

Hey Rachael!! Thanks for checking on me :) Everything is going great! We got married (yay!) and our little one is growing like a weed, I'm at 12 weeks now. I've been lurking around the message boards on here so I don't 'forget' what I need to do once I'm not pregnant! Mainly I'm just trying to watch my weight so I don't get too out of control :)

How are you?? Any more tri's coming up?? How is school??
December 08, 2009
Hi Rachael, thanks for checking up on me - I really appreciate it.
Things have been a bit rough lately, I am a bit stressed at work, Thanksgiving got the best of me and overall I feel discouraged because of all the little pains I recently had. I can't really do what I want to do and it is very much discouraging me. Just a few handicaps on the way. One of those phases, but overall I'm still on my way...
I started to improve my eating again since Thanksgiving is over, but for a little I was just sooooo hungry - I mean not stomach growling hungry, but I really felt more as if the life was sucked out of me. Just overall sluggish and aches and pains that are really bothering me. I'll be fine, I'm hanging in there and let it pass - I'm still working out.
December 07, 2009
Come on, Rachael - you didn't let me down! You helped me through the two toughest occasions of the holiday season!
And just remember the tail-gate scarfing you used to do when you were starting up on Traineo? I am certain you judged each piece of pizza and read its BF% before eating it :0).
We need to splurge once in a while and just not let it derail us, right? Let's try at least to hold our own through to the New Year. Heeeeere it comes!

My weights may all be sinkers because of how much I'm losing? My weight hasn't gone up at all since I've been on South Beach, so I haven't entered any higher weights in order for them to be floaters. If you look at some of my other weight entries from the past you'll see that i do have floaters.

Hi Rachael! I'm not finding SBD hard to stick to at all. In fact, I think if I had taken the time to read the book sooner I'd be in much better shape than I am!! :) It's a fairly obvious plan, but it explains a lot of the reasoning behind why eating that way is a good thing, which I like.

Anyway! I think BM issues are probably pretty common, particularly for people who are eating a lot of protein in a day - I know I sometimes eat protein related foods almost exclusively.

Last night was an enormous spread of everything you ever wanted to see on a plate. I was mostly very good, but did have a fruit crepe, and a humongous strawberry dipped in chocolate. The rest was all good stuff - shrimp (I didn't have the fried ones in batter), lobster bun, fruit, and I had some wine. There were lots of people to meet and so I tried to spend my time talking instead of eating. That should be the worst one over. I have quite a few seasonal parties coming up, but nothing like the spread Saturday night.

How did yours go? And congrats on registering for the half ironman - You really do rock!

Thanks, Rachael - the company is Reber - The candy - Mozert Kugeln. They've been doing it since 1865 :0)
Now tonight will be another hard one. Thanks for caring :0)

Rachael - I'm back from the concert evening. I was ever-so-good at the concert. I did NOT partake of the goodies. there. Ed brought me a wonderful box of candies - only 12 in the box @ 90 cals each - full of pistachios, hazelnut, dark and milk chocolate - just lovely. I had only ONE. They will haunt me till they're gone, but I'll treat myself to one ONLY when I've been a very good girl. We went out to eat after and I had spaghetti with meat sauce. Period. Oh - and a glass of wine. So one hurdle cleared. Thank you for being there :0)

I have a single position 'block' so have never ridden at different heights. I know people put it at the highest bit and in the biggest gear and simulate hill climbing but I've never done that. I could always put my block on something else to raise the front wheel I suppose. Are you 'enjoying' the windtrainer. I know for me it has been the one thing that has made me a stronger rider. You definitely have to wok hard and an hour on there is very different to just riding for an hour on the road.
